San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas --- A two-run eighth inning propelled the Colts to an 8-6 win over the Fort Worth Cats Monday night at Foster Field.
Tied at six, third baseman Landon Camp hit an RBI infield single that scored the go-ahead run in right fielder J.J. Sherrill. Sherrill hit a one-out double earlier in the inning. Camp then scored on an RBI double by designated hitter Cory Patton.
Fort Worth reliever Mace Thurman (2-3) surrendered both runs, and therefore took the loss. Starter James Giulietti allowed six runs, five earned, on eight hits in five-plus innings for a no decision.
Colts' reliever Michael Hacker earned the win by pitching a scoreless top of the eighth. Closer Erik Draxton then worked around a two-out walk in the ninth to pick up his league-best 13th save. Starter Mark Willinsky took a no decision, allowing six runs, two earned, on seven hits in as many innings.
At the plate, left fielder Jason Crosland went 4-for-5 to become the third Colts player this season to have a four-hit game. For the Cats, shortstop Brandon Jones hit his league-best 10th homer of the year; a solo shot in the fifth inning.
The win improves San Angelo to 24-26, while the loss drops Fort Worth to 28-21. This series continues Tuesday night with $2 Tuesday, sponsored by Budweiser, the Legend Jewelers Diamond Dig and the Chamber of Commerce Night. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
