San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas --- The Fort Worth Cats came into San Angelo Thursday night and picked up an 8-7 extra-inning victory at Foster Field. It was the first home loss of the season for the Colts.
Cats' catcher Derek Marshall scored the winning run in the 12th inning on a sacrifice fly to right field by second baseman Jon Dziomba. Marshall reached base on a fielding error by third baseman Davis Page, and advanced to third on a double by third baseman Brandon Jones.
Brandon Jones went 4-for-6 with a home run, two doubles and three RBIs.
Despite allowing just one unearned run on a hit in three innings of excellent relief, lefty Kyle Boggio (0-1) took the loss. Ryan Riddle made the start for San Angelo, and allowed five runs, three earned, on eight hits in six innings for the no decision.
At the plate, the Colts batted around and scored five runs in the fourth inning. First baseman Daryl Jones and left fielder Jason Crosland both homered. However, the Cats responded the Colts' outburst with runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.
Fort Worth's bullpen held the Colts scoreless from the eighth inning on. Reliever Brandon Wilkerson (1-0) pitched two shutout innings for the Cats, and earned the win. Closer Jeff Jamnik worked around a two-out single in the 12th to earn his fourth save.
The loss drops the Colts to 7-2, while the win improves Fort Worth to 6-3.
The Colts and Cats play game two of this five-game home and home series Friday evening at Foster Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and gates open at 6:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Colts' visor, courtesy of S & S Screen Printing.
The San Angelo Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
