San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- A three-run top of the ninth propelled the Fort Worth Cats to a 12-11 win over the Colts Friday night at Foster Field.

Down to their final out in the ninth, the Cats benefitted from a Colts' fielding error and sent three more men to the plate. Left fielder Chad Gabriel reached base on the error, and centerfielder RJ Harris and right fielder Chuck Caufield followed with back-to-back singles. Gabriel scored the tying run, and Harris scored the eventual winning run on Caufield's RBI base hit.

Caufield went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. His homer was the first of back-to-back shots to begin the sixth inning.

Colts reliever David Phillips (1-1) suffered the loss and a blown save.

The Colts had a five-run fifth, but for the second night in a row, Fort Worth chipped away at the Colts lead and took the victory.

Blake Parry (2-0) earned the win for the Cats, allowing two runs in three innings of relief. Closer Jeff Jamnik pitched the bottom of the ninth, and recorded his fifth save.

Defensively, the Colts tied a season high with four errors, and the two clubs combined for a total of eight.

The Colts and Cats are now tied atop the United League standings at 7-3.
