
Colton Phinney Reassigned to Indy from Manitoba

INDIANAPOLIS - The American Hockey League's Manitoba Moose announced Thursday that they have reassigned goaltender Colton Phinney to the ECHL's Indy Fuel. In a separate transaction, the Fuel have released defenseman Kyle Rhodes from his amateur tryout contract (ATO).
Phinney, 24, made his AHL debut on March 17, stopping 14 shots in a relief appearance for the Moose. The first-year netminder from Chatham, N.J. has appeared in 22 ECHL games this season with the Fuel and the Jacksonville IceMen, posting a 5-8-4 record with a 3.29 goals against average and a .888 save percentage. In his lone start with Indy, Phinney made a career-high 42 saves while backstopping the Fuel to a 7-4 win in Toledo on March 11.
A product of Princeton University, Phinney holds school records in saves (3,440), games played (110) and minutes (6411:41). Over his four year NCAA career, Phinney compiled a 27-74-9 record with two shutouts, a 3.10 goals against average, and a .912 save percentage.
The Fuel continue their push for a Kelly Cup Playoff berth this weekend with a pair of critical Central Division match-ups at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Indy hosts the Kansas City Mavericks Friday, before taking on the Fort Wayne Komets on Made In America night.
