Mallards Sign Dzakhov to Tryout; Nagy Departs for Hungarian National Team

MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Mallards have signed forward Stanislav Dzakhov to an amateur tryout agreement and have placed forward Gergo Nagy- who has departed for the Hungarian national team- on team suspension, the Mallards announced today.

Dzahkov, 25, turns professional after completing his senior season at Niagara University earlier this month. The 6-foot-2, 209-pound native of Moscow, Russia scored five goals and added three assists in 28 games for the Purple Eagles this year.

Dzakhov produced 22 goals, 27 assists and 49 points in 120 games over four seasons at Niagara. He led the Purple Eagles in points (17) and finished tied for the team lead in goals (9) while setting collegiate career highs in both categories as a junior in 2016-17.

Dzakhov split three seasons in the junior ranks between the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey and the Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League before arriving at Niagara.

Nagy, 28, joins the Hungarian team in advance of next month's International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship (Division I) in Budapest.

Nagy scored 11 goals and notched 13 assists for 24 points in 44 games after signing with the Mallards in December. The 6-foot-3, 212-pound product of Dunaujvaros, Hungary, returned to the Mallards this season after first playing for the club in 2013-14. He scored 20 goals and collected 34 assists to total 54 points in 64 games in his first stint as a Mallard. The 2013-14 campaign also saw Nagy get his first taste of American Hockey League action when he played a pair of games for the Chicago Wolves. Nagy played six more games for the Wolves the following season.

Nagy began this season with MAC Budapest in the Erste Liga, which is composed of clubs in Austria, Hungary and Romania. Nagy scored once and picked up five assists in ten games with MAC this year after scoring 21 times and recording 37 assists to total 58 points in 40 games with the same team last season.

Prior to this season, the 2014-15 campaign was Nagy's last in North America. During that season he scored 18 goals and registering 36 assists for 54 points in 56 games with the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings in addition to seeing time with the Wolves.

Nagy previously represented Hungary at the 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2016 World Championships.

The Mallards return to action on the road tomorrow night against the Rapid City Rush. The Mallards next play at home next Wednesday night, April 4 at 6:35 p.m. against the Rush. All seats for next Wednesday's game are available for just $5.
