Colton Incze Shines Despite 3-1 Loss to Rangers

February 6, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

Your Niagara IceDogs were in Kitchener tonight to close out their 5-game road stand tonight against the Rangers. Tonight's game marked the first time defenceman Elijah Roberts returned to play his former team in Kitchener, which was sure to bring some emotions. Colton Incze made his third consecutive appearance between the pipes tonight, looking to build off of two strong performances last weekend

The Rangers got an early lead but, while on a 5 minute powerplay, Sam Miletic worked his magic and tied the game up at 1! His blast from the blueline bounced past Mario Culina, to be the first 1st period goal the Rangers have allowed in a month! Kirill Maksimov extended his 6-game point streak to 7 with his assist on Milly's goal. Ben Jones was credited with the secondary assist.

In the second period, Colton Incze made 17 saves, many of them highlight-reel calibre to keep this game tied at 1. Early in the third period, Incze was beaten on a rebound as the Rangers regained the 1-goal lead. Despite putting on the pressure in the third period, they just couldn't beat Culina. The Rangers scored a late empty net goal to take this one by a score of 3-1.

The 'Dogs are back on home ice this Thursday as they host the leagues' top team, the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds.
