Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO - Colorado Springs Switchbacks keep the winning streak alive by beating Detroit City FC with a final score of 0-3.
It was a very good night for the Switchbacks on the road as they went against Detroit City FC. The boys kept a strong passing accuracy of 71.9% and had three shots on target in just the first half.
In the 14 ¬Â², #7 Tyreek Magee promptly struck the ball in the middle of the 18, where #27 Juan Tejada headed the ball right into the net, giving the Switchbacks the first mark on the scoreboard.
Detroit City FC had a moment of miscommunication when passing the ball back to the goalkeeper, and #9 Romario Williams took advantage of the opportunity and slid the ball right past the goalie into the net.
Coming into the second half, the boys felt pressure from Detroit City FC, but that did not stop them from bringing the heat. In the 29 ¬Â², Romario Williams charged forwards with the ball, after blocking a sliding attempt from the goalkeeper, and Williams rocketed the ball into the net.
With a score of 0-3, Detroit City FC created intense tension on the pitch, and #12 Michael Bryant received a double yellow card, resulting in a red card in the 58 ¬Â² from a reckless offense, leaving Detroit City FC down a player.
With the Switchbacks earning these three points on the road, the closer the team gets to clinching a playoff spot and securing a home playoff advantage.
The Colorado Springs Switchbacks have a quick turnaround and will be back at Weidner Field on September 30th for Mental Health Awareness night as they go against Rio Grande Valley FC!
