Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC News Release
Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks, despite a late attempt, were unable to secure a win against Phoenix Rising FC, losing 1-0 Saturday night.
The Switchbacks put up a strong defensive display in the first half as Phoenix looked to make an early mark on the board, and despite Rising FC's strong attacking presence, the 45 minute mark would arrive with neither team earning a ball to the back of the net.
The second period saw more of the same, and possession was an almost even split, with the Switchbacks just edging out the lead with 50.9%. Even so, Phoenix would be the first to earn a goal, as their Captain Stenberg found the top right corner during a corner kick set piece.
The Switchbacks would find their own way to the back of the net in the final few minutes of play, but an offsides call kept the score in Rising's favor until the final whistle.
The Switchbacks return to Weidner Field on April 20th to go head to head against Indy Eleven, for the Switchbacks 10th season celebration night! For tickets to that match, and all others, head HERE.
