Colorado Rapids News Release
COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (Friday, June 5, 2009) - The Colorado Rapids have announced the dates for the club's 2009 Open Tryouts, which will be held on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 from 10 am - 3 pm at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
The Rapids are inviting any interested players from Colorado and around the world for the opportunity to be scouted by the Rapids to potentially join the team. Prospective players should be male, no older than 25 years of age, and should have extensive collegiate and/or professional experience.
Staff from the Colorado Rapids, including Technical Director Paul Bravo and Head Coach Gary Smith, along with coaching staff from adjacent professional soccer franchises such as the Colorado Rapids U-23 squad, Rapids Academy, and other local soccer clubs will be on hand to scout all participants.
Due to past popularity, the deadline to register is 5 pm on Wednesday, July 1st. Once they have applied, applicants will be notified via email whether they have been accepted to take part in the tryouts by Friday, July 3rd.
To apply for the Colorado Rapids 2009 Open Tryouts, prospective participants can submit their playing history and apply for the tryout online at ColoradoRapids.com.
Once applicants have been notified via email that they have been accepted to attend, they will then be sent further instructions, along with a waiver form and link to pay the tryout fee online.
Accepted participants must bring the completed waiver form, along with a valid photo identification or birth certificate, to the tryout. Accepted participants will also have to have paid the $75 tryout fee online before the tryout days.
All potential applicants must be pre-registered. No walk-up participants will be accepted on the days of the tryouts.
Please note that this tryout is for individuals who have completed their college eligibility only. Since this tryout takes place during the NCAA calendar, underclassmen participating in this event could possibly jeopardize their college eligibility per NCAA rules.
Medical insurance is recommended, but not necessary, for tryout participants. Prospective participants understand that the Colorado Rapids, Kroenke Sports Enterprises, and/or Dick's Sporting Goods Park are not responsible for any medical costs associated with a participant's injury that may occur during the tryout.
