Colonials Rally Falls Short Versus Rox in 6-5 Defeat

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials lost 6-5 to the Brockton Rox at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield on Saturday night.

Colonials' starter Patrick Moran ended the night with a no-decision after going seven innings, allowing four runs on five hits, four walks, and three strike-outs. Reliever pat Bresnahan (1-1) suffered the loss, giving-up two runs in one inning out of the bullpen.

Designated hitter Donny Leon (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) doubled and knocked in a pair for the Colonials in the effort. Rafael Cabreja (3-for-4, 3B) and Danny Bomback (3-for-4, 2B) each enjoyed three hit games for Pittsfield.

Brockton starting pitcher Jose Aquino also took a no-decision after going five innings in a giving-up three runs on seven hits in the outing. Reliever Colin Lynch (5-4) earned the victory going an inning and one third out of the bullpen, allowing one run on two hits.

Rox catcher Chris Grossman (1-for-3, 2B, 3 RBI) knocked in three runs for Brockton and delivered the game winning two-run double in the top of the eighth inning.

The Colonials will conclude the series with the Brockton Rox on Sunday nafternoon when right-hander Miguel Flores (6-4) takes the ball against Brockton's Wayne Lundgren (7-4) at 2:05pm.
