Colonials Edged by Quebec 4-3

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials left the tying and winning runs in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth inning, falling just short in a 4-3 loss to the Quebec Capitales at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on Tuesday evening.

Quebec designated hitter Jeremy Hunt knocked in the winning run on an RBI ground out in the eighth inning for the winners while teammate Sebastien Boucher was the only other Capitales player to record an RBI, hitting a sacrifice fly.

Capitales' starting pitcher Michel Simard (4-4) earned the victory going six innings, giving-up two runs on eight hits, one walk, and seven strike-outs. Reliever Andrew Albers (7) allowed the tying and winning runs to reach in the ninth inning but bared down to notch the save.

Colonials' starter Kyle Zaleski (7-2) suffered the loss going seven innings allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and six strike-outs. Relief pitcher Patrick Moran gave up one run in two innings of work.

Pittsfield first baseman Donny Leon (1-for-3, HR, SAC, 2 RBI) had both of the Colonials RBIs in the game with a solo blast and an RBI sacrifice fly. Jerod Edmondson (2-for-5) extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a first inning single and later adding another base hit. Center fielder Quentin Davis was 2-for-4 with a double in the losing effort.

The Colonials will conclude the three game series with Quebec on Wednesday night at 7:05pm when Jonny Venters takes the mound for Pittsfield against the Capitales' Troy Cate (2-2).
