Colonials Edged by Brockton 2-1

Brockton, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials were clipped by the Brockton Rox 2-1 at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, Massachusetts on Tuesday evening.

Colonials' starter Jonathan Venters pitched five innings in a no-decision, allowing one run on six hits, one walk, and four strike-outs. Reliever Rafael Lluberes (1-1) suffered the loss conceding one unearned run over one and one-third innings of relief.

Pittsfield second baseman Danny Bomback (2-for-4, RBI) had the Colonials' lone RBI of the game on a pair of base hits.

Rox starting pitcher Mike Smith (7-3) earned the win over eight solid innings, allowing one run on ten hits and six strike-outs. Reliever Hunter Davis (7) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Save.

Brockton's Mike Conroy (3-for-3, 2B, 2 R) collected three hits in the game while teammate Chris Valencia (1-for-2, RBI) notched the lone RBI. Brockton scored the game winning second run in the seventh inning via a passed-ball with the bases-loaded, charged to Colonials' catcher Scott Knazak.

The Colonials will conclude the three game series against Brockton on Wednesday night at 7:05pm when lefty David Qualben takes the mound for Pittsfield. He'll be matched up with Rox righty Mike Wlodarcyzk.
