Colonials Clipped in Late Worcester Rally

Worcester, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials saw the Worcester Tornadoes rally for four runs in the last half of the eighth inning to overtake the Colonials 6-3 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on Friday night.

Tornadoes catcher Alex Trezza's (1-for-3, HR, 3 RBI) three run homer in the bottom of the eighth ended up being the game's winning hit. Danny Santiesteban (1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI) also smacked a long ball in the game for winners.

Worcester starting pitcher Justin Knoff (3-2) went eight innings allowing three runs on eight hits while striking-out eight and walking none en route to the victory. Closer Rick Asadoorian (8) locked down the save pitching a scoreless ninth.

Colonials starting pitcher Patrick Moran factored in a no-decision, pitching seven innings allowing two runs on four hits. Reliever Pat Bresnahan (1-1) suffered the loss conceding two runs over two-thirds of an inning. Right-hander Matt Lyons also gave up a pair out of the Colonials bullpen.

Pittsfield shortstop Matt Nandin (2-for-4, HR) and third baseman Jason Taylor (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) each belted homeruns in the game, Taylor a two-run shot, to drive in all of Pittsfield's runs.

The Colonials will continue the series with Worcester on Saturday night at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field when Miguel Flores (7-4) takes the hill at 7:05pm.
