Colonials Beat Up Brockton 13-7, Win Fifth Straight

Brockton, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials scored nine runs over the first three innings against Brockton Rox, and went on to win 13-7 at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, Massachusetts on Monday evening.

Pittsfield right fielder Dan Carte (3-for-6, HR, 3 RBI) belted his league leading tenth home run of the season and drove in three runs to pace the Colonials offense. First baseman Jerod Edmondson (3-for-6, 3B, HR, 2 RBI) finished a double shy of the cycled and homered while designated hitter Donny Leon (2-for-5, HR, 3 RBI) launched his first homer of the season, a three run shot. Eight of the nine Pittsfield hitters in the starting line-up recorded at least one hit in the 17 hit assault.

Colonials' starter Miguel Flores (3-3) earned the win over six innings of work, allowing four runs on six hits, three walks, and four strike-outs.

Rox starting pitcher Wayne Lundgren (6-3) suffered the loss lasting two and one-third innings, allowing seven runs on ten hits. Reliever Jose Aquino was hit for five runs on five hits out of the Brockton bullpen.

The Colonials will continue the three game series against Brockton on Tuesday night at 6:05pm. when lefty Jon Venters makes his debut on the mound for Pittsfield. He'll be matched up with Rox righty Mike Smith (6-3).
