Coley's Grand Slam Lifts Sky Carp Past Cubs

It didn't take Mark Coley long to ingratiate himself to the good people of Beloit.
Two at-bats, to be exact.
Coley's fourth-inning grand slam helped Beloit to an 11-5 victory over South Bend in the opener of a six-game series Tuesday at ABC Supply Stadium.
The Sky Carp trailed 4-0 when Josh Zamora led off the third inning with a home run. That opened the floodgates for Beloit, which proceeded to score five runs in each of the next two innings.
Cam Barstad jacked a three-run double later in the third to give Beloit a 5-4 lead, and Coley's grand salami put the icing on this one.
Edgar Sanchez threw 1 1-3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win, while the Sky Carp bullpen was excellent all day long.
Beloit will host Peoria in another matinee Wednesday, with this one beginning at 11:05 a.m. as Education Day gets into full gear.
