Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) host the Fort Wayne TinCaps (affiliates of the San Diego Padres) in the first game of a six-game series.

Last Game: Sunday: Cedar Rapids 4, Dayton 2. The Kernels got a three-run home run from Jay Harry in the bottom of the seventh inning to erase a 2-1 deficit. Each team had only four hits in the game. Carlos Jorge led the Dragons with two hits and a walk. Cam Collier had an RBI single. The Dragons did not commit an error in the game after having 10 in their first eight games.

Last Series (April 9-14 at Cedar Rapids): Dayton went 2-4 in the series, winning the first game and fourth games.

Dayton team stats in the series: .210 batting average (42 for 200); 4.2 runs/game (25 R, 6 G); 4 home runs; 7 stolen bases; 6.12 ERA (50 IP, 34 ER); 6 errors.

Team Notes

Since being shutout on a chilly opening night game on April 5, the Dragons have scored at least four runs in six of eight games.

Both Saturday and Sunday, the Dragons took an early 1-0 lead by scoring in the top of the first inning but eventually lost the game. These were the first two games of 2024 that the Dragons lost games that they had led at any point during the game.

Player Notes

Through nine games, the Dragons big four of Hector Rodriguez, Sal Stewart, Cam Collier, and Jay Allen II is batting a combined .345 with six home runs and 26 RBI in 110 at-bats. The remainder of the roster is batting a combined .154 with two home runs and 9 RBI in 188 at-bats.

Hector Rodriguez is batting .364 (tied for 7th in the MWL). He is tied for 2nd in the league in hits and ranks 6th in slugging percentage (576).

Cam Collier has hit safely in each of his first eight games. Collier ranks among the MWL leaders: Tied for 1st in RBI (11); Tied for 2nd in hits (12); Tied for 2nd in home runs (2); 9th in batting average (.353); 8th in slugging percentage (.559).

Sal Stewart ranks first in the MWL in runs scored and tied for 13th in batting average (.323).

You can follow the Dragons through various broadcast outlets in 2024. Every home and road game will be broadcast on radio on WONE 980-AM as Tom Nichols and Patrick Geshan call the action. Games are also available at wone.com, on a mobile device through either the Dragons mobile app or the iHeart Radio app, or on HD Radio on 104.7 HD 2 WTUI. Additionally, the Dragons will televise 15 home games on Dayton's CW (Channel 26, available on Spectrum Cable channels 13 and 1013; available on DirecTV and Dish Network channel 26).
