Oshawa, ON - The Oshawa Generals are pleased to announce that the Ontario Hockey League today announced that Vancouver Canucks prospect, Cole Cassels is the Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week the week ending October 19 after scoring a league-high 10 points in four games with two goals and eight assists along with a plus-minus rating of plus-13.

Cassels, a 19-year-old from Columbus, OH, is playing in his fourth OHL season with the Generals. Originally chosen in the first round of the 2011 OHL Priority Selection, Cassels has 147 points in 200 career regular season OHL games to date and is currently fourth in league scoring with 20 points in 11 games. He was selected by the Canucks in the third round of the 2013 NHL Draft and has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the club. Cassels helped the Generals win all four games last week with four multi-point efforts lifting the club into first place in the Eastern Conference standings with 19 points.

Oshawa Generals General Manager says, "Cole has been a real leader for us this year with captain, Josh Brown being at NHL Training Camps at the start of the season. He took over as the interim captain and I'm glad he is being recognized for the leadership that he had provided to the team."
