
Colaiacovo Earns Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Paulo Colaiacovo of the Bloomington PrairieThunder has been named the Goaltender of the Week by the International Hockey League, it was announced Monday by league officials.
The 26-year-old Colaiacovo posted the first shutout of the 2009-10 season when he stopped 26 shots, including six power play attempts, against Dayton on Saturday in a 4-0 victory at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. It also marked only the third shutout in the franchise's four-year history.
Colaiacovo, who hails from Etobicoke, Ontario, has started all four PrairieThunder games this season and has a 2-2 record. He has logged 205:17 minutes and has vastly improved his numbers over the first two games.
He has allowed just two goals in the last two games, stopping 60 62 shots. He is now allowing just 2.63 goals per game and has raised his save percentage to .916. Following his first two games, Colaiacovo had a 4.91 goals against average and a .844 save percentage.
Colaiacovo also has helped his teammates stop 10 straight power play attempts.
The PrairieThunder returns to action with home games at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Friday against two-time defending IHL champion Fort Wayne and Saturday against Flint. Both games start at 7:05 p.m.
