Guelph Storm News Release
The Guelph Storm announced today that goaltender Cody St. Jacques is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 3rd.
Cody St. Jacques played only one game this weekend, but was still the best Storm player. Having started every game he's played on the road so far this season, the 19 year old made 38 saves in his team's 2-1 victory over the Niagara IceDogs on Saturday. Named the first star of the game, the Iroquois Falls native posted a goals against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of 0.974 in the 60 minute span. The Storm's third consecutive victory had a lot to do with St. Jacques performance as he turned away a number of Niagara's quality scoring chances.
Re-acquired by the Storm in the offseason, St. Jacques has played in two contests so far this season. With an overall save percentage of 0.918, St. Jacques ranks among the top 10 goaltenders in the league.
Next up, the Storm welcome the red-hot Soo Greyhounds to the Sleeman Centre on Friday night. For tickets to Friday's game which pits the Storm winners of three in a row against the nationally ranked Soo Greyhounds who have opened the season with seven straight wins call or visit the Guelph Storm box office or purchase online at GuelphStorm.com.
