Cody Laweryson Promoted to AA, Kernels Add Hunter Mcmahon

Cedar Rapids, IA - Cedar Rapids Kernels righthander Cody Laweryson has been promoted to the Wichita Wind Surge. In a corresponding move, righthanded pitcher Hunter McMahon has been promoted to Cedar Rapids from the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. With today's transactions, the Kernels active roster stands at 28 players.

Laweryson has been a critical piece of the Kernels bullpen in 2022, making 16 appearances with a pair of starts and posting a 2.57 ERA across 35.0 innings of work. The Moscow, Maine native held a 42:12 K:BB ratio while limiting opponents to a .532 OPS. Over his last six appearances, Laweryson has covered 14.1 innings to a 0.63 ERA, allowing just one run and striking out 20.

McMahon likewise has enjoyed a strong season in the Mighty Mussels pen', earning five saves in 20 appearances while working 32.1 innings to the tune of a 2.23 ERA. Acquired by Minnesota from Washington in exchange for Ryne Harper in 2020, the Texas State product has punched out 36 while walking just eight.
