Carolina Cobras News Release
GREENSBORO, NC - The Carolina Cobras are proud to announce that they have promoted former Carolina Cobras Director of Partnerships Trent Thomas to become the team's General Manager. The decision was made earlier this month for Trent to lead the Cobras front office for not only this season but for future seasons. In less than a year Trent has fostered impressive growth in the teams corporate partnerships taking the lead on new partnerships as well as nurturing and resparking old partnerships from past seasons.
"It was never the plan for me to be the long term GM of the team. Trent brings an energy to our Front Office that is needed to lead this organization into the future. He loves this team and organization. He's been around it for the last two years and I believe knows exactly what it takes to run our Front Office successfully. This allows me to transition seamlessly into my new role, knowing we have a dedicated leader in that GM seat. Additionally, Trent's character and leadership of our staff will allow me to focus on what I love which is coaching this team to a 2024 NAL championship." - Brandon Negron, Head Coach & Team President
Trent graduated locally from Greensboro Day School in 2001 and attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte he also took courses at Pfeiffer University. In 2014, he worked in the music industry in Nashville, TN where he worked his way up to artist management for Ricky Young he also served as a tour manager for Lewis Brice the younger brother of Nashville artist Lee Brice. In business, he has spent the majority of his career working in management for Wayne Thomas Chevrolet and joined the Cobras in 2023 during the offseason officially taking on the position of Director of Partnerships in December where he played a heavy role in delivering brand new partnerships to the Carolina Cobras and reuniting partnerships to return to the Snake Pit.
The Cobras general manager brings 20 years of business experience to the team. His role will assist other Cobras executives to improve the success of Cobras ticketing, operations, production, marketing, youth programs, community impact and promotions having worked closely with the directors of those departments the team expects this move will ensure long-term success from the business side of Carolina Cobras football. Hiring a general manager from within the front office is a healthy sign of team business development within the organization that has served Greensboro and the surrounding communities since 2018.
