Carolina Cobras News Release
RALEIGH, N.C. (June 6, 2002)- The Carolina Cobras return home to the Entertainment & Sports Arena to take on the Arizona Rattlers on Friday, June 7, 7:30 p.m.
Carolina finished a two-game road trip through the state of Florida with a 1-1 record, but fell to 4-3 overall with a 33-30 loss at Orlando last week. The Cobras are 1-2 (.333) at home this season and 8-9 (.470) all-time at the ESA. During their history in Raleigh, the Cobras are 2-1 (.667) in home games following back-to-back road contests. Arizona (5-2) was one of the hottest teams in the Arena Football League before falling the Grand Rapids Rampage, 71-53, last week in Phoenix. Arizona has the AFL's third highest scoring offense (54.4 ppg.) and has scored 50+ points in every game this season.
The Cobras and Rattlers have met only once with Arizona squeezing out a 44-42 win on July 8, 2000 at America West Arena. Carolina needs a win to keep pace in the National Conference Southern Division. The Cobras currently lead the division by one game over the Orlando Predators (3-4), who host the Tampa Bay Storm this Sunday, June 9, 4:30 p.m. at TD Waterhouse Centre (live on TNN).
Friday's game against Arizona can be heard live in the Raleigh-Durham area on WRBZ 850 The Buzz Sports Radio with Gary Hahn and Tony Haynes on the call.
