Chicago Rush News Release

June 6, 2002 - The Chicago Rush will once again give an aspiring young singer the opportunity to perform the National Anthem prior to an Arena Football game at Allstate Arena, the team announced today.

"Last year's National Anthem contest was one of our most successful promotions of the season," said Rush senior vice president/general manager Mike Polisky. "With world events placing a heightened appreciation on The Star Spangled Banner, combined with requests from our fans, we felt it made sense to make the contest an annual event."

The Rush will hold its open tryout for singers, 16 years and younger, Thursday, June 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Allstate Arena. Contestants will be given the opportunity to impress the Rush judges by singing at midfield. All kids wishing to enter the open tryout must register in advance by calling Tanesha Wade at (773) 243-3450.

At the end of the tryout, one contestant will be selected to sing prior to the Rush game against the Dallas Desperados Saturday, July 13.

The next Rush home game is scheduled for this Saturday, June 8, at 7 p.m. against the Detroit Fury. Fans wishing to attend the game can call Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212. For group tickets to the June 8 game, as well as all Rush home games, fans can call the Rush office at (877) Rush-Tix.
