Cobras Adding Offensive Linemen to Roster

GREENSBORO - The Carolina Cobras, after multiple signings, have rebuilt their offensive line for 2019. After re-signing Joe Harris (6'4", 330) head coach Billy Back has gone out and signed new-comers Jeremy Schonbrunner (6'3", 310), Darriel Mack (6'2", 300), and Zach Hooks (6'6", 295). The four join already re-signed OL Chad Kolumber.

Harris played in ten of Carolina's 17 games this past season, including both of the Cobras' play-off games. Before his pro-debut with the Cobras last season, Harris attended and played football at Miles College in Alabama, where he, in his sophomore year, played in the JUCO national title game and in his junior year, helped the team win the SIAC title. Harris played football at Carson-Newman University while finishing his senior year. "It feels great to be back with the Cobras," Harris says. "We have a lot of people coming back and that'll help our team chemistry." He adds, "We're going after another championship this year."

Schonbrunner, while new to the Cobras, is not new to the arena game. Prior to signing with the Cobras, Schonbrunner joined with various arena and indoor football teams around the country, including the Philadelphia Soul, San Antonio Talons, and Tampa Bay Storm of the AFL, the Trenton Freedom of the PIFL, the Iowa Barnstormers of the IFL, and the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks and Columbus Lions of the NAL. Schonbrunner is excited to continue his career with the Cobras. "[I'm] most excited to play under coach Billy Back. Have heard nothing but great things about the head coach," says Schonbrunner. "Just happy to play another year of football and have fun with my teammates." Before his professional career, Schonbrunner played his college football career at Temple University in Pennsylvania.

Mack will make his professional debut with the Cobras this season, after playing football for Greensboro A&T from 2013-2016. While originally from South Carolina, Mack says that "it feels good to be back 'home'." In his time at A&T, Mack helped the Aggies win two MEAC national championships, and helped block for now NFL running back Tarik Cohen. Cohen was able to break the all-time MEAC rushing record with the help of Mack on the offensive line. Following his time at A&T, Mack pursued a career as a police officer after majoring in criminal justice and "hung up his cleats" as he puts it. But he's back to playing football now and says he's "excited to be back on a football team" and that he "cannot and will not disappoint."

Hooks, like Mack, is a pro-football rookie. Originally from Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Hooks attended and played football for California University Pennsylvania. During his senior year at CUP, Hooks was selected to the All-PSAC West First-Team and appeared in all 12 of the Vulcans' games that season, starting ten of them.
