Coastal Plain League Surpasses Five Million Fans

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - The Coastal Plain League recorded 13,529 fans across its ballparks Thursday night, officially moving the league well past the five-million-fans mark in its 15-year history.
"This is a great achievement for the Coastal Plain League and its member clubs - both past and current," said CPL Assistant Commissioner Justin Sellers. "Thanks to all of our fans for their loyal support over our 15 years; and to our teams and their respective staffs for all their hard work to helping create such family-friendly and exciting atmospheres at all our ballparks! We look forward to building on this record accomplishment."
A special Five Millionth Fan contest was created to crown an honorary "Five Millionth Fan" and was being carried out in all its ballparks until the league officially hit five million fans. Each night, fans filled out registration cards starting this past Sunday. CPL teams hosting games Thursday night will collect their registration cards from their respective game and turn them over to the league office. The league office will then place them in a barrel, and will have a special CPL-themed VIP to pick out one registration card, and that lucky fan will be officially named the Coastal Plain League's Five Millionth Fan!
The lucky fan will win several prizes, including a VIP trip for two to the 2012 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game. At the 2012 CPL All-Star Game, the Five Millionth Fan and a guest will be treated like VIPs with access to the league's special VIP tent during the Fan Fest, Home Run Derby, and All-Star Game, have VIP seats at the All-Star luncheon, meet the CPL All-Star players and coaches, be honored throughout the two-day event as the CPL's Five Millionth Fan and have the chance to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the All-Star Game.
