Montreal Alouettes News Release

Montreal, January 12, 2005 - Created in 1998, the CN Adopt-an-Alouette program continues to flourish in 2005 and visits will be kicking off tomorrow in Quebec's high schools. Receiver Sylvain Girard will make the first visit of the year when he goes to École Saint-Louis of Rawdon.

''The objective of the Adopt-an-Alouette program is to prevent high school drop-outs while providing role models for the kids,'' said President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Larry Smith. « We are proud of the unprecedented success of this program, which is in large part due to our players' hard work and the involvement of sponsors CN and Pfizer. We want to continue to invest time and effort to help keep our kids in school.''

Visits consist of a presentation by the Alouettes' player during which he will talk about a subject selected by the school he is visiting. The schools' representatives can choose a discussion topic adapted to their students, like relationships and conflicts, time management or career planning for example. A question and discussion period usually follows the presentation.

Ten Alouettes players participate in the program, which is present in over 150 high schools in Quebec and reaches close to 50,000 kids. All players who participate in this program, including Anthony Calvillo, Barron Miles, Kevin Johnson, Paul Lambert, Rob Brown, Dave Stala, Stéphane Fortin, Sylvain Girard and Luke Fritz, followed a 20-hour training program from Dr. Ron Clavier.
