(Durham, NC) Columbus pounded four home runs on 16 hits and David Huff moved to 4-0 as the Clippers beat the Durham Bulls, 14-1 on Friday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Three Bulls pitchers combined in allowing 12 earned runs on 16 hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Starter Mitch Talbot recorded his second-consecutive quality start tossing six innings, giving up six hits and four runs while striking out four. Only two of the four runs were earned, both coming on solo home runs.

The normally solid Durham bullpen did not fare as well Friday as two pitchers, Chad Orvella and Jason Childers, combined to allow ten runs, all of them earned, on ten hits with one strikeout. The combined Durham bullpen ERA jumped from 2.53 to 3.42 following the game.

Offensively, the Bulls struggled to get anything going as they left eight runners stranded including six in scoring position. Huff went six scoreless innings only allowing four hits and two walks while striking out four. Durham was only able to get three more hits off the Clippers bullpen, including a Chris Richard opposite field home run over the Blue Monster in left in the ninth, the Bulls only tally of the game.

With the loss, the Bulls now fall to 13-8 on the year and are now even at 1-1 in their series with Columbus. They will look to take the series lead Saturday with left-hander David Price taking the mound for Durham.
