
Cleburne Takes Game One Behind Wong's Pitching

OCONOMOWOC, WI. - The Cleburne Railroaders took game one against the Lake Country DockHounds 5-2 on Friday night.
The scoring would begin in the first inning for the Railroaders. Edwin Arroyo was hit by a pitch as the first batter of the game. After a 4-3 putout advanced him to second base, Arroyo and Chase Simpson came in to score when Kacy Clemens doubled.
Lamar Briggs and Tristen Carranza began the third frame with a single. With two outs in the inning, TJ Bennett scored Briggs on a single, but was tagged trying to leg out a double. That would trim the lead 2-1, Cleburne.
In the top of the fourth inning, Clemens reached and stole second base. On the eighth pitch of the at-bat, Jacob Bockelie doubled for an RBI. Nick Shumpert would bring in Bockelie with a single, followed by an RBI double by Hunter Wolfe. The score would be 5-1.
Wilfredo Gimenez homered in the eighth inning. It would be his third in four games. The final score would be 5-2 with Lake Country coming up short.
Cleburne's rookie pitcher Michael Wong pitched a strong eight innings in his first-ever start in a Railroaders' uniform. He allowed just six hits and two earned runs. Wong also fanned four.
