Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Jose Olague threw seven innings of one-run ball as Rome topped the BlueClaws 2-1 on Saturday at FirstEnergy Park.

The BlueClaws had the tying run on second base and the winning run on first in the ninth inning but Jack Conley lined out to short off Lukas Young to end the game.

The Braves (12-16) have now won three straight including the first two in the series while the BlueClaws (9-20) are now 1-4 on their current homestand.

After Victor Santos (2-2) retired the first 10 batters he faced, a second inning single from Andrew Moritz gave Rome their first hit in the top of the fourth. Moritz, however, was thrown out stealing.

Lakewood got on the board in the fourth inning on a solo home run from Ben Pelletier, his second of the season.

The Braves broke through in the fifth, taking the lead on Brendan Venter's two-run double to go ahead 2-1.

Santos came out after five, allowing two runs on four hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Francisco Morales came on and threw 2.1 scoreless innings, with Tyler Carr escaping a jam when entering in the eighth inning.

Rome starter Jose Olague (2-3) threw seven innings, the longest outing of his career. He allowed four hits and did not walk a batter.

Hunter Stovall went 2-4 in the loss for the BlueClaws.

The teams continue their series on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 pm. LHP Manuel Silva starts for Lakewood.
