July 18, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

Cincinnati, OH-The Cincinnati Cyclones proudly announce the Montreal Canadiens and the Hamilton Bulldogs as their team affiliates for the 2006-07 season.

Forming in 1909, the Montreal Canadiens are the oldest established National Hockey League franchise, and one of the most successful clubs in all of North American sports history. Based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the Canadiens are one of the NHL's 'Original Six' franchises, along with the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Redwings, New York Rangers, and Toronto Mapleleafs. In their near-century of existence, the team has won twenty-four Stanley Cups, the most championships won by any team in the NHL. Otherwise known as the Flying Frenchmen, Montreal strives to live by their motto, "to you from failing hands we throw the torch. Be yours to hold it high," which is an excerpt from a poem describing the fighting in World War I. Recently, the team announced Guy Carbonneau as head coach, and publicized ambitious plans for the Centennial year of 2008-09 to bid on hosting the World Junior Hockey Championships, and the NHL Draft.

Based out of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the Hamilton Bulldogs are an American Hockey League franchise, which formed in 2002. The Bulldogs have won a total of two division titles (2002-03, 2003-04) along with one regular season title (2002-03). Hamilton is currently the AHL team affiliate for the Montreal Canadiens.

"The Cyclones are very excited and honored to be affiliated with Montreal and Hamilton," said Cyclones' Head Coach Chuck Weber. "We look forward to working with these two successful franchises in developing players and in putting a winning team on the ice."
