Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The 2006 Kelly Cup champion Alaska Aces have promoted Jack Michaels to Vice President of Communications and Team Operations and hired Mark Kincher as head equipment manager, effective immediately.

Michaels has served as the club's play-by-play voice on KFQD 750 AM and Director of Communications and Team Services for the past four years. While he will continue to handle those duties, Alaska's ownership group wanted to expand his role in its relationship with the ECHL.

"While Jack is perhaps best known for his work on the radio, my partners and I felt that he also should be recognized for what he does beyond the broadcast booth," said managing member Terry Parks. "His contributions in coordinating our team travel, regular and postseason scheduling, and corporate sales development have been invaluable in our organization's growth over the last three seasons."

Michaels will continue to serve as the team's primary public and media relations contact, while Devon Parks will act as the liaison for all community relations and merchandise sales in addition to her graphic design work for the club. Parks played a key role in the development of Alaska's "Ignite the Ice" campaign, recently honored by the ECHL at its 2006 marketing meetings in Atlanta, and is a regular contributor in the media and public relations department when the team is traveling during the season.

Since the Aces were awarded an ECHL membership in 2003, Michaels been selected for the league's All-Star Game telecast twice and earned the ECHL Broadcaster of the Year award in 2004. In his new capacity, he is expected to work Terry Parks on most league-related matters, as well as continue to work with head coach Davis Payne and assistant coach Keith McCambridge in hockey operations.

Payne recently hired Mark Kincher to take over as head equipment manager, replacing Damion Parmelee, who accepted a position as equipment manger for the Philadelphia Phantoms in the American Hockey League. Kincher joins the Aces after one year as the equipment manager for the Motor City Mechanics in the United Hockey League and three seasons as an assistant in Utah when the Grizzlies were members of the AHL.

2006-07 Alaska Aces season tickets are now on sale; for more information on tickets, sponsorships, and off-season signings, please visit www.alaskaaces.com or call 258-ACES.
