Idaho Falls Chukars News Release
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho - The Chukars and Vibes played what might be the game of the season on Thursday evening at Melaleuca Field.
Reigning PBL North pitcher of the week Daniel Silva got the start for Idaho Falls, while Marvin Guzman was making his first start of the season for Rocky Mountain.
Rocky Mountain got the scoring started with three runs in the first inning, two of which came from a Dusty Stroup home run. Idaho Falls answered right back in the bottom of the first, starting with a sacrifice fly from Zach May. Three batters later, Tyler Wyatt cleared the bases with a grand slam. Robb Paller would later score on a wild pitch to make it 6-3.
Chukars added two more in the second when Paller hit a two-rbi single. Monroe would get an rbi single an inning later to make it 9-3.
The Vibes started to chip away at the Chukars lead when they scored two in the top of the fourth thanks to Stroup's second home run of the game, and a RBI double from Elvis Peralta.
Idaho Falls scored one in the fifth and sixth innings, while Rocky Mountain added one to their score in the top of the sixth. Heading into the 7th, the Chukars were up 11-6.
Rocky mountain dropped a five piece in the 7th inning to tie the game. Casey Peterson got an RBI single to get the scoring started, before Jacob Barfield and Edmond Americaan hit back-to-back two RBI doubles to tie the game.
The score would remain the same until the bottom of the ninth inning, when Robb Paller came up again with the bases loaded. He proceeded to clear the bases with a grand slam, as the Chukars walked it off for the first time this season.
Paller ended the night with 6 RBI's, and was the player of the game for Idaho Falls. Brian Williams got the win in relief for the Chukars, while Alexis Cedano took the loss for the vibes.
The Chukars hit the road on Friday for a short three game set in Ogden, before heading back home right afterwards. You can watch the game on FloSports, or listen to it on KSPZ, the sports zone.
