Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

IDAHO FALLS, ID - The Idaho Falls Chukars (16-10) were swept by the Missoula Paddleheads (17-9) in a 10-6 defeat on Thursday night at Melaleuca Field. With their fifth straight loss, the Chukars fell to third place in the North Division behind Missoula and the Great Falls Voyagers.

The Chukars opened up the scoring in the second against Austin Crowson (W, 2-0) on a double from Brady West into left field that scored Calvin Estrada, 1-0. The lead was the first Idaho Falls had over the Paddleheads.

Sam Kornstad (L, 2-2) began his night by tossing three hitless innings, before Jayson Newman tied it up on a solo homer in the fourth, 1-1.

In the home half, the Chukars loaded up the bases on a single from Hunter Hisky, a walk from Estrada, and a single from West. Dusty Stroup drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 2-1. Estrada came around to score a wild pitch to give the Chukars a 3-1 lead.

However the Paddleheads stormed back to take the lead in the fifth on RBI singles from Brandon Riley and Kamron Willman, and a sac fly with the bases loaded from Nick Gatewood, leading 4-3 over the Chukars.

Missoula grew the lead for the rest of the game, scoring a run in every inning after the fifth to put the game out of reach. The Chukars scored a run in the final three innings, including a solo homer from Hisky in the bottom of the ninth, but were unable to comeback for the third time in a 10-6 defeat, their fifth straight loss.

The Chukars will look to right the ship with a three-game series against the Glacier Range Riders (11-15) today with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The game can be viewed on the Idaho Falls Chukars YouTube channel, and heard on KSPZ The Sports Zone. Both starters are TBD.
