Annone Hones Swing in Homecoming, Vibes Win 15-2
June 24, 2022 - Pioneer League (PL)
Rocky Mountain Vibes News Release
Colorado Springs, Colo. - A barrage of base hits led the charge for the Vibes tonight as Rocky
Mountain won their third straight game over the Northern Colorado Owlz by the score of 15-2.
Mike Annone had four hits and five RBI in his return to UCHealth Park. The one-time Vibe had
somewhat of a homecoming and a revenge game wrapped up in one. Recently released by the
Northern Colorado Owlz, Annone joined the Vibes during their roster revamp earlier this week.
"We're going to turn this thing around man, we are going to take it to the top," said Annone right
before getting a water shower on the field during a postgame interview.
The Vibes are now 3-0 since the overhaul on June 21.
It was the first game back at home for the new-look Vibes but it was the Owlz who had the upper
hand early, a 2-0 lead after the top of the second. But that was all they would score.
Two runs came in the bottom of the second inning on a two-run single by Mike Annone. Three
more runs came in the third on another Annone single and a two-run single by Gio Diaz.
Diaz now has a hit in 25 straight ball games, the longest active streak in the Pioneer League.
Then in the sixth inning, Ulysses Cantu hit the first grand slam of the Vibes' season, pushing the
score at that point to 9-2. The Vibes would add six more runs in the ninth to complete the 15-2
final.
Yohandry Perez had another quality start, picking up the win while pitching 6.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1
ER, 3 BB, 8 K. He now has a record of 2-1.
Winners of three straight, the Vibes have a new-found confidence. Pitching, hitting, and defense
are now the three ingredients to the winning recipe rather than the scrappiness, hopefulness, and
serendipity that might have defined the first 23 games of the season.
The Vibes will go for their fourth straight win tomorrow with Brock Knoten making his first
Vibes start. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased at vibesbaseball.com
for tomorrow at the promotional price of $2 while quantities last.
