Chucks Utilize Four Big Innings to Pummel Bullfrogs 13-8

GREEN BAY - The Wisconsin Woodchucks rebounded from a 10-4 loss last night by tallying four multi-run innings to defeat the Green Bay Bullfrogs 13-8.
After Woodchuck starter Ben Burke faced the minimum through the first two innings, the Bullfrogs offense broke through against him in the third. With the bases loaded and two outs in the inning, David Armendariz blooped a single off the end of the bat into right field scoring Ryan Matranga and Brian Celsi for the first two runs of the game. Ransom LaLonde followed that up with a single of his own that scored Nick Stein, giving the Bullfrogs a 3-0 lead.
The Woodchucks would put a crooked number of their own on the board off of Bullfrog starter Dylan Mendoza. With two on and two outs, Brooks Braga singled down the left field line, bringing home Bryant Munoz in his "ËChucks debut, making it a 3-1 game. The next batter, Eric Filia-Snyder, doubled off the base of the wall in right, scoring Mike Bernal and Braga, tying the game at three.
The Bullfrogs would answer right back and regain the lead in the fifth with a solo home run by Celsi, making it 4-3. Burke went four and two-third, allowing four runs as he picked up a no-decision.
After scoring three runs in the fifth, the "ËChucks offense would break out again in the sixth. The first four batters in the inning all reached against starter Mendoza, scoring two runs, one on a wild pitch and one on an RBI double by Nate Irving, chasing Mendoza from the game. The "ËChucks would go on to score two more runs on RBI singles by Bernal and Braga, putting the "ËChucks on top 7-4.
It would stay 7-4 until the eighth when the Woodchucks scored at least three runs in one inning for the third time in the ballgame. Munoz led off with a walk and would later score on a Filia-Snyder single to make it 8-4. The next batter, Brendon Hayden, also singled, bringing home Braga who had walked for the second run of the frame. Filia-Snyder would later score on a wild pitch, making it 10-4 Woodchucks. After Mac Acker walked the bases loaded, Jack Fischer drew a walk to score Hayden and pick up his first Northwoods League RBI. After Hayden's run, every Woodchuck in the order had scored at least once in the game as the "ËChucks led 11-4.
The "ËFrogs would score one more run in the eighth, but it would not matter as the Woodchucks coasted to the 13-8 victory. It was the Woodchucks eighth victory in their last nine games, and it extended their lead in the Northwoods Leauge South over Madison to five games with 12 games left to play.
