Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO, July 9, 2010 - The Chicago Sky announced today that injured forward Shameka Christon underwent successful surgery to correct complications from an orbital fracture she suffered on June 11.
Assuming that her recovery progresses as expected, Christon will be able to participate in basketball activities four weeks after the procedure. She should return with approximately two weeks left in the regular season.
Christon was elbowed near her left eye in the Sky's 95-78 loss to Washington on June 11 in which she suffered a corneal abrasion, concussion and medial orbital bone fracture. Up to that point the former WNBA All-Star had averaged 8.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 21.3 minutes per game.
