Chris Pittaro of Oakland A's to be Inducted into Scouts Hall of Fame

(FISHKILL, NY) - Chris Pittaro, of the Oakland Athletics will be inducted into the Professional Scouts Hall of Fame (SHOF) on July 1, 2012 at Dutchess Stadium. Pittaro will join the prestigious group of individuals who have embraced the scouting profession with great honor and success throughout their careers.

Criteria for induction includes a minimum of 20 years of pro scouting experience, with selection based on a combination of quantifiable success in the field, contributions made to the game in other areas of the sport whether professional or amateur, and importantly, their involvement and dedication to the local community that is honoring them through induction.

Pittaro, who is entering his 22nd year with the Oakland organization, recently took the position as the Special Assistant to the General Manager at the start of the 2012 season. Prior to being named to his new position, Pittaro served as Director of Professional Scouting for five years. He spent the previous six seasons as National Field Coordinator after serving as an Area Scout and National Crosschecker with the Athletics since 1991 (full bio attached).

Pittaro will be inducted into the Scouts Hall of Fame Sunday, July 1, 2012 prior to the Hudson Valley Renegades home game versus the Brooklyn Cyclones.
