Jamestown Jammers Season Preview
June 13, 2012 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Jamestown Jammers News Release
JAMESTOWN, NY--The Jamestown Jammers are about to kick off their 19th season in Jamestown with Opening Day upon us Monday, June 18th . The Jamestown Jammers are now in their eleventh season as a Marlins affiliate. While the Marlins underwent significant changes this offseason with a new name, logo, ballpark, and players, not much has changed with the Jammers. Probably the biggest change this season is our new manager, Angel Espada. Last season, Espada served as the hitting coach for the Jammers. This season Espada will look to guide the Jammers to a winning season and improve on their (35-40) record that had the Jammers ten games behind the Pinckney Division Champions the Auburn Doubledays.
Now that the draftee signing deadline has moved from August 15th to July 15th there is a chance we could see Marlins first- round draft pick Andrew Heaney the lefty from Oklahoma State join the Jammers this season. Opening Day will feature a post game fireworks show sponsored by Superior Bat Company. The Jammers open the season against their division rivals the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. Game time is 7:05pm and the gates open at 6:00pm. With the Miami Marlins drafting a myriad of talent from both college and high school backgrounds, it will be interesting to see who will be on the roster this season.
