
Chris Doyle Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announced in conjunction with the ECHL that center Chris Doyle has been named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 30-Feb. 5.
Doyle, 21, scored four goals, added three assists and compiled a +4 rating last week as the Thunder went 2-0-1, improving to 8-1-1 in their last ten games. He is the first Thunder player this season and ninth in club history to receive the award.

Doyle scored two goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-1 win at Bakersfield on Wednesday and tallied four points (1g-3a) with a +3 rating in Stockton's 7-2 victory against Idaho on Friday. He ended the week with a goal in a 2-1 shootout loss to the"ËSteelheads on"ËSaturday.
The native of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island has 13 points (9g-4a) in 11 games with Stockton. He also has appeared in 13 games with"ËSouth Carolina this season and has totaled 24 points (14g-10a) in 24 ECHL games.
Doyle was selected in the fifth round (141st overall) by the New York"ËRangers in the 2008 NHL"ËEntry Draft. He scored 240 points (100g-140a) in 235 career games in the"ËQuebec Major Junior Hockey League with Prince Edward Island and Victoriaville and tallied 14 points (6g-8a) in 20 games with Mississauga of the Ontario Hockey League.
On behalf of Doyle, a case of pucks will be donated to a Stockton youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
