Duluth Huskies News Release

DULUTH, Minn. - In a dominant pitching performance, the Duluth Huskies defended Wade Stadium in commanding fashion.

The Duluth Huskies recorded their fifth shutout win of the season with a 4-0 victory over the La Crosse Loggers. It was the Huskies' first shutout win since July 17th, when they defeated Mankato 7-0 at ISG Field.

Ryan Chmielewski was phenomenal in his first start for the Huskies. The southpaw held the Loggers down with a season-high six strikeouts across four and one-thirds innings. Andrew Brockwell was able to finish off the scoreless fifth inning.

The Huskies (14-17, 33-31) gained their first lead two pitches later. Devin Hurdle roped a double off the left field wall, and Cam Frederick soared a sacrifice fly to center field. With Hurdle tagging up, third baseman Bill Ralston missed the throw, rolling out of play to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

La Crosse (14-17, 30-35) left runners on, and the Huskies took full advantage. Cam Frederick delivered his fifth RBI in his last seven games, scoring Jared Mettam on an RBI single to make it 2-0.

Another Omaha product chimed in in the seventh. Eddie Satisky recorded his eighth RBI of the season, blooping a single over the head of shortstop Jordan Donahue to score JD Rogers, building the lead to 3-0.

Hurdle continued his perfect night in the eighth. After being hit by a pitch, the third baseman stole second and third before advancing home on another scoring to boost the lead to four. It was one of Hurdle's finest performances, going two-for-two with a pair of runs scored.

Isaiah Piscitello completed the shutout with a scoreless ninth inning. Brockwell received his second win of the season, while La Crosse starter Dylan Lapic taking his second loss of the season.

The Huskies close their regular season home schedule tomorrow for game two against the Loggers, with a postgame fireworks following the final out. First pitch is set for 6:35 P.M.
