
CHL Revamps Playoffs

The Tulsa Oilers will open the 2010-11 Central Hockey League season at home at the BOK Center on Friday October 15, and will also have a new home in the Southern Conference of the CHL.
The CHL has unveiled the home opening dates and the conference alignment for the 18 teams that will play in the affiliated league with the International Hockey League. The league will play a 66 game schedule, with two conferences of nine teams each. Sixteen teams will qualify for the playoffs.
Joining the Oilers in the Southern Conference will be the Allen Americans, Arizona Sundogs, Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, Laredo Bucks, Mississippi RiverKings, Odessa Jackalopes, Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, and Texas Brahmas.
Teams in the Northern Conference will be the Bloomington Prairie Thunder, Colorado Eagles, Dayton Gems, Evansville IceMen, Fort Wayne Komets, Missouri Mavericks, Quad City Mallards, Rapid City Rush, Wichita Thunder.
Plans call for the league to name the conferences after figures of historic significance to the CHL and IHL. Complete schedule details, include the Oilers home opponent, and remaing games will be announced later.
The Oilers had the second highest point total increase in the CHL this season under head coach Bruce Ramsay, who was in his first season with the Oilers. They will have 33 home games at the BOK Center in the 2010-11 season.
