Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008) - Chivas USA players Jonathan Bornstein and Sacha Kljestan have been selected by head coach Bob Bradley for the United States National Team's upcoming four-day training camp, taking place from Nov. 12-15 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. The 19-player group will train ahead of the Nov. 19 World Cup Qualifier against Guatemala, and a roster for the match will be named on Nov. 16.
Bornstein and Kljestan were both part of the last U.S. National Team group that fell 2-1 on the road to Trinidad & Tobago on Oct.15. Kljestan played 90 minutes in the match, while Bornstein, with the U.S. for the first time since 2007, was an unused substitute. Bornstein, a native of Los Alamitos, Calif., has made a total of 12 appearances with the U.S. National Team, while Kljestan, originally from Huntington Beach, has been with the U.S. for each World Cup Qualifier so far in 2008, and has 11 appearances with the U.S. in his career.
Following the completion of the training camp, Bradley will announce the roster that will train in advance of the Nov. 19 World Cup qualifier against Guatemala. Kickoff for the USA's first-ever World Cup qualifier in Colorado is set for 6 p.m. MT, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and Galavision. The U.S. has already clinched first place in Group 1 of the Semifinal Round of FIFA World Cup qualifying, holding 12 points from five matches. The other participant from the group to advance will be determined on the final matchday, with Guatemala needing a victory and a Trinidad & Tobago loss in order to maintain hopes of advancing.
