Carson, CA. (Thursday, August 4, 2011) - Chivas USA's defender Heath Pearce has been called up to the US National Team for the international friendly against Mexico on Wednesday, August 10th to be held at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The match will be the first for Pearce under Jurgen Klinsmann new era.

Pearce will join the rest of the 22-player roster this coming Sunday, after Saturday's Chivas USA-NE Revolution match to be held at the Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts.

The 26 year-old and Modesto, California native stated on his way to Boston: "This is a new opportunity for me. I haven't been with the National team for about a year now and I am very excited to meet the group. It's a brand new cycle, there are a bunch of new faces, and I am ready to embrace it all"

Chivas USA's Head Coach Robin Fraser was caught at LAX airport on his way to Massachusetts with the team and was happy to comment; "I think it is great and very deserving. He's been extremely consistent for us (Chivas USA) all year long, and Heath's ability to play in a couple of different positions makes him even more attractive to a situation like that."

Jurgen Klinsman, named U.S. coach last Friday, said "One of the goals of the roster for this game and moving forward is to create competition at each position. There are many players who are established as well as many players who will get opportunities, and we want there to be a healthy contest for spots on the roster."

The U.S. has an all-time record of 15-32-11 (W-L-T) against Mexico since 1934, and it will mark the 59th meeting between these two squads. Mexico defeated the U.S. (4-2) last June in the team's last meeting during the CONCACAF Gold Cup final.

Chivas USA travels today at noon to Massachusetts and will square off against the New England Revolution on Saturday, August 6th at Gillette Stadium. The match will kick off at 4:30 pm PT, and will be broadcast on W Radio 690 AM at 7:00 p.m. PT. For information on the game, please visit www.cdchivasusa.com.
