Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, November 22, 2005) - Chivas USA announced in a press conference that it has hired Bob Bradley, the winningest coach in the history of Major League Soccer, to lead the Red-and-White into the club's second campaign in MLS. The 47-year-old Bradley, an Ivy League graduate, former U.S. national team assistant and MLS Cup and U.S. Open Cup champion, replaces Hans Westerhof as Chivas USA's Head Coach.
FREE SOCCER CLINIC IN SAN BERNARDINO: Major League Soccer team Chivas USA will be offering a free soccer clinic for boys and girls ages 5 to 15 on Thursday, November 24, from 12 to 4 p.m., at the San Bernardino Soccer Complex, located at 2500 Pacific Avenue in San Bernardino, California. The clinic will be run by members of the Chivas USA coaching staff, including Director of Football Dennis te Kloese, former Chivas USA and Chivas Guadalajara goalkeeper MartÃn Zúñiga, former Chivas Guadalajara player Samuel Bernabé. Also in attendance will be Chivas USA defender-midfielder and Riverside Poly High School alumni Jesús Ochoa.
SEQUEIRA AND JIMÃNEZ TO REAL SALT LAKE: Major League Soccer team Chivas USA today began rebuilding its squad for the 2006 MLS season, acquiring veteran defender Brian Dunseth in a three-player trade with fellow 2005 MLS expansion side Real Salt Lake. In exchange for the 28-year-old Upland, California native and former captain of the U.S. Olympic national team, Chivas USA sends D/M Douglas Sequeira and M/F Christian Jiménez to Real Salt Lake. The move opens up a Senior International slot on Chivas USA's roster.
CHIVAS FUTBOL ACADEMY: The Chivas Futbol Academy continues play this week in preparation for this weekend's slate of games in Baldwin Park, with sessions at The Home Depot Center's Field 5 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday.. MINI-CHIVAGIRLS: The ChivaGirls are offering a clinic for Mini-ChivaGirls, where young women from 3 to 15 years old will be taught to dance and perform cheering routines. The classes will be held Wednesday and Friday afternoons at The Home Depot Center, with a cost of $50 per month, plus uniform costs. Participants will have a chance to take the field with the ChivaGirls during select Chivas USA home games, and will also be able to dance on the ChivaTown stage during halftime.
