CHICAGO, Ill. - U.S. Soccer recognized Chivas USA Youth Academy product Caleb Calvert as the U-15/16 National Player of the Year out of the West Conference. Calvert, who was a key member of the U-15/16 and U-17/18 age groups during the 2012-13 regular season, became the nation's top of scorer with 22 goals in 27 games.

"I feel honored and proud because of the place that I came from and the guys I played with," said Calvert about his award. "My teammates are the ones who helped me get this award, and who helped me play at the highest level I can possibly play. I just want to thank them, because they are the one who helped me get where I am today, something that I still can't believe.

"Personally it means I have achieved something I thought I wouldn't have accomplished in quite a while and I'm just shocked and amazed by it. Now I want to use this as stepping stone, move forward and get better," concluded the Calvert.

Calvert recently joined Chivas USA First Team as a Homegrown player on Jul. 5, 2013, becoming the youngest player in club history at 16 years, 8 months and 13 days to sign a professional contract.

The young striker not only proved himself with the Academy this year, as he also was called up to play in a Chivas USA's Reserve League game against Seattle Sounders FC. Calvert played the full 90 minutes with the Red-and-White and scored his first goal in the 2-1 victory over the Western Conference Rival.

The Development Academy players and coaches have received postseason recognition since the Academy's inaugural 2007-08 season, and the End of Year awards are voted upon by U.S. Soccer Technical Advisors.
