Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas - International soccer is coming back to Round Rock! Liga MX rivals Chivas de Guadalajara and Tigres will meet in a friendly at Dell Diamond on Saturday, October 13 at 5:00 p.m. The match is presented by SPD Sports in conjunction with Ryan Sanders Sports & Entertainment.
"We are proud to bring Liga MX soccer back to Dell Diamond for the second time this season," Ryan Sanders Sports & Entertainment COO J.J. Gottsch said. "Chivas and Tigres are two of the very best clubs in Mexico and we are excited to welcome them back to Central Texas."
Chivas is one of the most iconic teams in Liga MX, with a league-record 12 championships. Guadalajara's recent success includes winning the Liga MX Clausura 2017 and Copa MX Clausura 2017, becoming the first team to win the league and Copa in the same season since the return of Copa MX in 2012. Los Rojiblancos may feature stars such as goalkeeper Rodolfo Cota and forward Alan Pulido. Las Chivas return to Round Rock for the first time since 2015 when they defeated Pachuca 1-0 in the first-ever soccer match at Dell Diamond.
Tigres' six championships and recent success have placed the team amongst the top teams in Liga MX. Los Auriazules have won Liga MX each of the last two years and reached the final of international tournaments Copa Libertadores and CONCACAF Champions League. Mexico's reigning Apertura champion may feature stars such as forward André-Pierre Gignac, goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán and Mexican international midfielder Jurgen Damm. This match marks the second time in 2018 that Tigres will play at Dell Diamond as the team previously beat Pachuca 2-0 on July 8.
Tickets start at $40 and will be on sale beginning Thursday, August 23. Fans can purchase tickets in person at the Dell Diamond ticket office, online at RRExpress.com or by calling 512-255-2255. Tickets are also on sale at La Michocana Meat Market locations in Central Texas.
