Chillicothe, Ohio - Richmond lost 4-2 Tuesday night in Chillicothe, dropping the second game of the series and snapping a three game win streak. The Roosters scored early but the Paints scored the last four runs to even the series and one game each.
Richmond scored in the first inning for the third straight night. Kiley Vaughn and Kevin White hit back-to-back singles and both later scored when Tony Sanguinetti hit a triple down the right-field line to put the Roosters out on top 2-0. The Paints cut the lead in half when Darren Heath scored from third on a throwing error by Sanguinetti at home plate. Chillicothe got another run in the fourth and pulled even with Richmond on single by Jeremy Brotherton, scoring David Gingrich to tie it up at 2-2.
The Paints took their first lead of the game in the eighth and held onto it. Two runs scored on RBI hits by Jose Rodriguez and David Gingrich to give Chillicothe a 4-2 lead and the win. Jesen Merle (2-3) was hung with the loss while Ryan Rafferty (2-2) got the win in relief.
The Roosters (22-28) will finish the series against Chillicothe (25-25) on Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. (Indiana time). Tony Casoli (6-2, 3.47 ERA) will try to continue his strong pitching for Richmond. He will be opposed by Perry Cunningham (4-2. 4.64 ERA) of Chillicothe. Richmond will return to McBride Stadium on Thursday to begin a six-game home stand that will include series against the Florence Freedom and the Washington Wild Things.
