Slippery Rock, PA - Four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning were not enough to overcome an early deficit as the Slippery Rock Sliders fell to the Chillicothe Paints by a 9-6 score at Jack Critchfield Park on Wednesday night. The loss puts Slippery Rock one game under .500 for the month of August (13-14) and concludes the Sliders' home record at 10-20 in their inaugural season.

Chillicothe jumped out to an early lead by tagging Sliders' starter Nick Tracy (3-12) for three runs in the top of the first inning, followed by an additional run in the third and three more in the fifth, though only five of his runs were earned. Jason Cline took over in the sixth inning, lasting three frames and allowing three runs (two earned) before Jon Dandridge finished the game with a scoreless ninth inning.

Slippery Rock got on the board for the first time in the bottom of the third inning when Jason Curry led off with a single up the middle and two outs later advanced to second on a wild pitch. He then scored on a single to right field by Casey Bowling. The Sliders added another run in the fifth inning on Bryan Vickers' team-leading ninth home run of the season.

The Sliders rally in the bottom of the ninth began with a one-out double to right field by Anthony Albano. Following a walk to D.J. Dixon, Albano scored on a single to right field by Bernie Dennis. Robbie Hine then singled to right, loading the bases. After Jason Curry struck out, Vickers cleared the bases with a double to right-center before Cy Donald ended the game with a foul out down the third base line.

Slippery Rock concludes their inaugural season with a five-game series at the Washington Wild Things, starting with a double-header on Thursday evening.
