Chiefs Win 8-1 on Sunday

Seven different players scored as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the Everett Silvertips 8-1 in front of 4,151 fans in the Spokane Arena on Sunday night. The Chiefs outshot the Silvertips 56-16 and rookies Jarid Hauptman and Tyler King both scored their first career goals in the victory.

Carter Proft scored his first goal as a Spokane Chief receiving a feed from Liam Stewart on a rush to the net at 7:33 of the first. Spokane acquired the 17-year-old forward earlier in the week from the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Mitch Holmberg added to the Chiefs lead at the 13:57 mark, scoring his fifth goal of the season on the Chiefs second power play of the evening. The Chiefs went into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead and outshot the Silvertips 12-2.

Tyler Maxwell helped the Silvertips to capitalize on a two-man advantage scoring at the 3:00 mark of the second period.

Spokane regained its two goal lead at 18:12 of the second when Mike Aviani was able to clean up a Marek Kalus rebound and tuck it past Everett goaltender Kent Simpson. The Chiefs kept Simpson busy in the second with 20 shots on goal.

The Chiefs found the back of the net five times in the third period. Hauptman got things started at 5:14 of the third on a goal set up by Kalus and Aviani.

Anthony Bardaro followed up soon after cleaning up a Brenden Kichton rebound at 6:36, prompting the Silvertips to make a goaltending change and bring in Austin Lotz. Only 15 seconds later Aviani scored his second of the night assisted by Hauptman and Kalus.

Domink Uher scored his sixth of the year at 16:04 receiving a pass from Bardaro on the left side of the crease and shooting the puck past Lotz. Silvertips defenseman Lucas Grayson was given with a charging major on the play after checking Uher into the boards on the play, allowing the Chiefs to spend the remainder of the game on the power play.

King finished off the scoring for the Chiefs on a point shot at 18:38 of the third.

The Chiefs finished 2-6 on power play, with the Silvertips going 1-3. The Chiefs next two games are on the road in Portland next Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12.
