Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA (September 27, 2006) - The Johnstown Chiefs today announced the signing of defenseman Ben Wallace. A native of London, Ont., Wallace appeared in 58 regular season games during the 2005-06 season with the Chiefs, scoring 10 assists, and earned two penalty minutes in five Kelly Cup Playoff games.

"Ben is a very big addition to our team," said Chiefs head coach Frank Anzalone. "He plays a very solid stay-at-home game. Last year, he learned the league, this year he'll hopefully be one of the best defensive defensemen in our division. We're going to need his hard work this year."

In his rookie season with Odessa of the Central Hockey League, the 6-2, 195-pound Wallace had seven assists in 50 games. In four seasons at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., Wallace scored 18 points (7g, 11a) in 102 games.

The Johnstown Chiefs, "AA" affiliate of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning, begin their 19th season as a member of the ECHL on October 21, 2006 at the Cambria County War Memorial in downtown Johnstown against the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Season tickets are currently on sale and may be purchased by calling (814) 539-1799 or 1 (800) SLAPSHOT.
